Looked on the FAQ and the search bar and couldn't find anything definitive regarding this - what is the best overall bit rate for rendering a video in terms of both quality of the video and speed of rendering? There's a few options Sony Vegas gives you:. Constant bit rate. Variable bit rate (the default setting).
Two-pass (not sure what this is for)Currently I use the variable bit rate setting, which has a maximum bps of 24,000,000 and an average bps of 12,000,000, and I was just wondering whether there's any reason to change this e.g. Will raising the average bps of the render improve the quality of the video?.
Personally I don't usually go that high because most of my viewers use phones & tablets, a few have laptops but that's still a wifi connected device in most cases (and were talking like 13 inches tops so it's not that noticeable). However if your doing gameplay footage you might want to go a little higher, what I do is use multiple presets, 1 mbps 720p60 for comic dubs (because very little movement), 5 mbps 720p60 for animation (1080p if needed).

For gameplay I'd make a few presets 1 for pixel indie games at like 5 mbps 1 for low graphic 3d games at 10 mbps and one at 30 mbps for high detail AAA games. To be fair I don't really 'produce' anything as it's a user submitted content channel. The stats are here: the vast majority is on phones and tablets, most of the computer number is probably laptops as well (I go through comments, and even view some of my subscribers channels to get an idea of the demo). It's mostly because the viewers are young, and enjoy having technology whereever they go.Kids these days are more into enjoying other peeps doing games / watching animations than they are playing said games themselves. I can't pull up those stats through my work filter unfortunately, but I'll check it out when I get home. That's really neat though, and something I wouldn't have considered looking into. Also, it's a cool concept for a channel to have all viewer-submitted content.I agree about people enjoying watching a game more than playing nowadays, and although I'm guilty of the same sometimes, at least it gives us creators something to share.
I personally would rather play the game first and only watch the videos of it when I'm done, but whatever makes people happy is fine with me.
